Exploring Amsterdam

We started our morning (after breakfast of course--more on that in a second) with a boat tour of the canals of Amsterdam. But first! The food has been fantastic here and we returned to a place called Blushing for breakfast this morning (we had lunch there the other day). It was so delish and the boys each had a couple kinds of pancakes...

It was a rainy morning so it was good that our boat tour was covered! It was actually the hop-on, hop-off boat but we stayed on until the very last stop and by then, it had pretty much stopped raining...

Eventually we got off at Jordaan, a nice little neighborhood on the west side of the city. It is the location of the Anne Frank house which we were unable to get tickets for. Not far away was the Tulip Museum which was actually very interesting!

We learned more than we ever knew before about the history of the tulip! After that we wandered along the canals, had lunch, wandered some more, had stoop waffles and went back to rest at the hotel.

In the afternoon, we went to the Van Gogh museum which is very close to our hotel. We spent a little time there before taking the tram into the city center. After an adventure/misadventure with trying to find our way home after that, we eventually made it back for a lovely dinner at a local cafe. Amsterdam is a nice city but the plan of it makes zero sense, plus you have all these canals that can throw you off directionally. Add that to a zillion bikers and it makes for some crazy navigation!
Here is my one picture from the Van Gogh Museum before I realized you weren't supposed to take pictures!
Here comes the tram...
