Noon years eve

No you didn't read that wrong, we went to Science City for their Noon Years Eve celebration which is geared toward kids. At 6, they did a balloon drop to celebrate the new year. It was a fun evening! We met Lahna and Liam there and the kids checked out some of the new exhibits there...
Happy new year everyone!!!🎉

More cuteness

And for our fourth and final entry of the day... some smiles from J to Grammy...

Happiness

Happiness is an outdoor hockey rink on a frigid day... Special thanks to Truman and his mom for inviting us to skate today!

Mother Son Run

Christopher and I went for our first mother son run today! I told him I was going for a run and he was eager to join me. First we were going to run a mile and then I told him I would drop him back off at home and go for another mile. Christopher would have none of that! He wanted to go the full 2. We ran 2.15 miles (and of course walked some of it) with a total of 30:52 and a 14:22 pace. Not bad for his first steady and sustained, rather than a full out, run!

Merry Christmas!!!

Merry Christmas everyone, from the Kansas Wogloms! At exactly 6:00AM, the pitter patter of running footsteps descended down the hall to where the Christmas presents awaited our VERY excited 6 year-old. Santa, along with very generous family members, left wonderful presents that Chris has been playing with and putting together for hours already. First of all, though, Chris was a great big brother and helped Jonathan open his presents. One of the things Santa left for him was a little Olaf, as Baby J was first referred to as "Olaf" when I was pregnant with him...
Chris was so excited that Santa brought him a Playmobil ski lift and Lego cargo heliplane (which he has been putting together himself for the past hour or so!).

All the excitement of the morning sent Jonathan back to his room for a morning nap. He would have been dressed in cute Christmas PJs like Chris except that he wore them to church last night and proceeded to spit up on them too much for overnight use! We dressed up the girls, though, in the beautiful ribbon that Aunt Dabney wrapped Christopher's gifts in, much to their dismay...

The ribbon on Kasey makes the staples in her head look much better (poor doggie). She and all the rest of us will be looking forward to Grammy coming over later for Christmas lunch. Merry Christmas everyone!!!

Happy Hanukkah!

In addition to celebrating Christmas, we like to throw in a little Hanukkah celebration too. The Grodens came over for dinner last night and we lit the menorah, had homemade latkes, and the kids played dreidel well past bedtime. It was a fun night!

Kindergarten "Concert"

This picture shows us before departing for the kindergarten holiday concert this evening at the upper school. I should actually say "songs" because the kids sang two songs to open up the upper school choirs' concerts and then they were done. Nevertheless, Chris and his classmates were extremely excited to dress up, stay up past their bedtimes and sing in front of hundreds of people. They did an awesome job!!! Unfortunately, we had our hands too full to take pictures and where we were sitting was not conducive to getting a good video of them singing. Rumor has it that we might be able to get the official video at some point. We will see!

Meeting Santa

Christopher has always liked Santa each year that he saw him and Jonathan liked him as well!
It was a successful visit! And note to self--when in Kansas City, go see Santa during a time when the Chiefs are playing. No lines!

And just for kicks, here is a picture from Christopher's first meeting with Santa. He was about 5 months old. Look at that little grin on his face!

Sunday Smiles

Always smiling at his brother...

Happy Apple

The Happy Apple, classic toy of Mommy and Daddy's day, has made yet another comeback in our house. Jonathan is very excited when we pull out this oldie but goodie! Here he is looking at his currently favorite toy...

And our first furry kid, Kasey, had to have her dental cleaning today along with several tooth extractions and a small harmless growth removed from the top of her head. She is still a little groggy and in some pain. Poor girl! It's nearly as hard to see Kasey uncomfortable as it is to see one of the boys in pain. Not to worry though, Dr. Chris is taking care of our girl and even Holly knows that she needs to go easy on her sister.

Hmmm...

While I'm here in tummy time, I'll just ponder life as a baby a little...
Eat, sleep, poop, get sniffed by this strange, four-legged thing next to my ear...
