Day After Thanksgiving

Greetings! I hope everyone had a fabulous Thanksgiving. We spent the morning yesterday watching the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade (a tradition I am handing down to Chris) and in the afternoon, we ate dinner with the Grodens. Grammy joined us at their house and Chris played much of the time with Lahna and Liam. It was a great way to spend the holiday! Today, Daddy had to work a half day so we put up the Christmas decorations while he was out and also took the dogs over to our old trail. It was warm enough to be out there but cold enough to have to bundle up. Holly was a big fan of the trail and all its fabulous smells! After we got back, the girls crashed on the couch and Holly snuggled up with Kasey's backside…
Meanwhile, Christopher was working on building some fantastic Lego creations. Along with the Christmas decorations, I also brought up my old Legos from the basement. After a thorough soaking and washing aways of 25 years of dust and dirty, they were ready for action! When Daddy got home from work, the boys worked on a really big spaceship…
Notice the concentration on Christopher's face!

A Proclamation

Said Christopher at lunch...

"Mommy, I have something to discuss with you. I am pretending I am the president of all the kids in the country. Not the grown ups but the kids. And I am going to write invitations to all the kids in my class and some of my other friends from outside of school and invite them to a meeting. We are going to talk about how we can escape from time outs. Okay?"

I'm not sure I'm on board with that agenda...

PJs and Pizza

On Friday evening we went to an old friend of Christopher's house for pizza and a playdate. Nate P. was in Christopher's class last year at LUMC and the boys (along with Nate's sister Molly) had a lot of fun eating pizza, trying to snag cookies and making airplanes while their parents visited. Before we came over, Nate's mom texted me that it had been PJ day at Nate's school and he was refusing to change out of his pajamas so Chris was welcome to wear his too. Our little guy was very excited to partake and chose his rocket pajamas because Nate likes rockets! Nate's mom, who is a really good photographer, took the picture above and I had to share it because these guys look so big now!

Reading at School

Daddy got to read Frog and Toad stories today at Pembroke and Grandma and Grandpa visited Christopher's classroom. It was a great morning!

Also, I'm trying to catch up the Holly pictures with all the hundreds of Kasey pictures so here's another...

KC Zoo

We took Grandma and Grandpa to the Kansas City Zoo this morning and we had a beautiful day for it. The highlight of the trip, of course, was the new penguin exhibit. Christopher is always up for seeing penguins and the new exhibit did not disappoint!

We were able to see the penguins really close up and Chris spent a lot of time observing his favorite animal of all time... The other highlight of our zoo visit was riding on the SkyFari. Chris enjoyed it so much that we went back for a second trip and this time we made it a round trip ticket!

I couldn't exactly take selfies of Chris and I with my big camera but at least you got to see the rest of the Wogloms... Here are some other animals we saw on our visit, including the kangaroo, chimpanzee and lion...

And of course, who could forget the exotic donut face, native to Mission Hills, Kansas...
Huh? Who me?

Back to the Airport

We returned to the Downtown Airport today to revisit the Airline History Museum. The weather was so nice today so the planes that were formerly in the hangar were moved outside. There was also an old World War 2 plane giving rides to veterans and their families so it was really cool to watch it take off and land! There's not much different between this visit and Christopher's class trip so not much new to add but it was a lovely time checking out the planes up close!

Road Trip!

Grandma and Grandpa arrived this evening after an epic road trip all the way from the east coast to Kansas! Christopher was absolutely bouncing off the walls (or at least the couch) when they got here and we were very happy to see them. They got some sightseeing in on the way including two presidential museums (Lincoln and Truman) and a Frank Lloyd Wright house (Fallingwater). After dinner, Chris gave Grandma Jan a long-awaited birthday present--a special book he made especially for her called The Doing Things with Grandma Book. The picture above shows him explaining some of his illustrations. We are excited for the next few days with Christopher's grandparents and will keep you updated about our outings!

I also wanted to share some pictures of Chris with the doggies that I took last week so here you go...

And also the girls by themselves... Who says they don't play together?
