The Engineer

Morning at Crown Center

This morning, Grammy and I took Jonathan to the free exhibit space down in Crown Center where they had an "under the sea" set up. J got to drive a ship and "play" with sharks, crabs and whales. He had a great time!

We also decided to have lunch at Fritz's, Jonathan's first trip to the very cool restaurant where trains bring you your order and drop them down on an elevator tray. It has been many years since we went to Fritz's and it is fun to do it all over again with J!
He especially loved talking on the phone and listening to his mother explain what a cord is...

In other news, Mommy spent the early morning registering Jonathan for his first school for next year! He will be right down the road at St. John's United Methodist two days a week. We are so excited for our little big boy to start his very first school in August!

Hanging with Evelee

A couple mornings a week, Mackenzie brings her baby, Evelee, to watch Jonathan. Just like his big brother was at this age, J loves babies! Mackenzie sent me this picture of them today on the play mat.

Craziness in the Evening

Is seems that after dinner, everyone in this house gets a second wind. This picture is actually very tame compared to the climbing and tackling that was going on before. But notice Holly in the background! She is mid-bark and letting Brian know (as he took the picture) that she is not going to take it anymore!

More stone!

Grammy requested that we put up another picture of the updated stone work. Here it is!

Like Spring

It was another gorgeous spring-like day here in Kansas so we spent most of the day outside enjoying the weather! In the morning we walked the dogs and spent time at Porter Park in Prairie Village. Later, we joined Grammy at the Overland Park Arboretum to check out the felt sculptures and the train garden. It was J's first trip to the train garden and he absolutely loved it!
This face below shows the boy's utter joy when he saw Thomas and Percy pulling a model train!

River Market with Friends

We spent this beautiful morning down in the River Market with Tiffany, Noah and Baby Christopher! First we met at Union Station and then took the streetcar down to the market. We stopped for tea and snacks at the Opera Coffeehouse and then meandered around the River Market. Finally we stopped for yummy Middle Eastern food at Habashi House!
The boys found a fun ramp to run down too! This went on for quite a while...

Stone!

The guys came over today to finish up the base for the circle and started laying the bluestone (among other things)! Things are starting to take shape!

Like Big Brother

Jonathan wants to do everything like his big brother! Chris is on the last Harry Potter book and has been reading it before school so of course, Jonathan needs his Harry Potter book (and a blanket too!).

While we're at it, there are some words that Jonathan says that I don't want to forget so I'm going to write a couple here...

"Bonopoly" is Monopoly (which he loves to take out and play with the money and the thimble piece)

"Bawawa" is banana

There are more but those were the two he said this morning that I wanted to record!

Jonny Applesauce

When I saw this applesauce at the grocery store this morning, I had to get it! It seems to have been made especially for Johnny J!

Fun Weekend

This weekend was very fun for the Woglom clan! In addition to the beautiful weather, we spent this evening with the Grodens, enjoying dinner and, of course, what eventually became a Hamilton sing-along. These kids play so well together and Jonathan and Lana especially bonded tonight!
Chris had a basketball game today that ultimately ended in a tie. Here is a picture of the crew(s). There are two teams that play separately but practice together...
And Mommy and Daddy got to go out Friday night for an early Valentines dinner. Thanks for hanging with the boys Grammy!

Singing

Jonathan learned a song at church last week and has been singing it all week. Tonight, at the end of dinner, the boys joined each other in a duet of the song "Deep and Wide."

Spring in February

So the obvious thing to do on an unseasonably warm February afternoon is to go ice skating on a semi-outdoor rink, right? Chris and I had a plan to go skating today, weeks ago. What was not in our plan was 70 degree weather! Never mind, we went anyway and the ice was, well, exactly as you would expect it to be in this weather. The best comparison for skating on soft semi-outdoor ice is the feeling you get when you run in sand. You can do it, but it takes a whole lot more energy. It was nice to skate without coats though! There were even people skating in shorts... The rest of our day was spent outside--walking the dogs twice, playing in the front yard and just enjoying a little spring in winter!

12 Years Old!

Our oldest child is turning twelve today! Happy birthday to our sweet Kasey who has been with us almost as long as Brian and I have been married. She snuggles with us, comforts us, gets us to walk everyday and makes us laugh when she wrestles her crazy sister. We love our snuggles so much!

Goofballs

Wrestling on the couch is a daily occurrence between these two boys in our house. Often there is laughter, sometimes there is whining, sometimes there are tears. Here is a sampling of what was going on today...

Gotta Wear Shades

Jonathan has this little pair of cheapo sunglasses he won at our church fair in the fall that he occasionally likes to wear in the car when we go to pick up Chris. He looks so goofy in them but he loves them!

We had more progress yesterday as the guys built more of the base for the stairs and planters. Very exciting!
