Hot

Dear Summer,

Okay this is getting slightly ridiculous. I totally expect to be holed up inside during the frigid months of a midwest winter but it is only June 28th and the thermostat on my car's dashboard read 106 before. This is totally unacceptable! There are only so many open gyms in Johnson County that I can bring Christopher to and Kasey needs a walk badly. Oh and pool water should not feel like bath water. Are you trying to get us to move to Canada?

Sincerely,
Mommy

Upstate Part Deux

One night we took Christopher to see a minor league baseball game. The Oneonta Outlaws were playing and Chris thoroughly enjoyed the game. He was very interested in everything going on and if it wasn't past his bedtime, we would have stayed for the whole thing! Here he is standing for the pledge of allegiance...

Usually when we go upstate in June, it is pretty cold for the summer time. Not this trip! We had a couple cool days but then Kansas weather followed us. Time to swim in the lake! Christopher was more than happy to show off some of his new swim moves that he learned in his lessons. Here he is getting ready to swim in Pine Lake with his life jacket on...

Our trip was lots of fun and it was great to see our family as usual. The trip home became quite an adventure as our flight was cancelled and then un-cancelled and then our connecting flight in Cleveland was delayed 3 hours. We've been very fortunate in all our travels with Christopher and we have not encountered many delays or cancelations. Only once before did we miss our connection and end up spending the night in Chicago. This trip included an evening nap on the airport floor!
Good thing the boy is flexible! We got home around 2AM after a very long day of traveling and were ready to sleep in our own beds again.

Upstate

We spent the last week in upstate New York with Grandpa T, Nancy, and G.G. Oh and did I mention the puppies and Beckie, Lily and George were there too? It was a fun week and I am hoping the pictures and video I include here will give you an idea of what a good time we had up there in the country... First, here are some photos of all the kids...

Doesn't baby George have a great smile??? And of course all the grown-ups enjoyed having these kiddos around...

No trip to Grandpa T's would be complete without a little accordion music. This time there were plenty of dancers to join in the fun!

Christopher was very excited to help Grandpa take care of the dogs. In fact, he would say to Brian and I, "I am going to help Grandpa and you cannot come!" Okay then, little boy, Mommy and Daddy will just have to sit down and do nothing for a few minutes I suppose. Grandpa had two puppies this summer who were about 4 months old.

Well apparently I can only upload a certain amount of pictures per blog entry so I'll have to continue my pictures in a new post!

Thanks!

Thank you Grandma Jan for the new bathing suit and tee shirt! I'm going to wear my new suit to swim lessons the morning!

Happy Birthday Grammy

Today was Grammy's birthday and we took her to one of her favorite places to celebrate... Unity Village! It was a beautiful day to visit and we got to have lunch, enjoy the rose garden and see the newly restored fountains. The roses were in full bloom and here are a couple of my favorites...

Christopher's favorite part was looking at the fountains. Well, he didn't just look, he claimed that when you are by fountains, you have to "do ballet." Here are some action shots of our little man showing his moves.

In a moment of rare stillness, we got a shot of him with Grammy on the bridge that looks over the fountain pools. He also took a breather to look at the huge fountain by the Unity Village entrance!

Beach ball sprinkler

In our quest to improve Christopher's summer fun, we came across an oversized sprinkler in the shape of a beach ball. The water squirts out the top and the sides for maximum soaking. I don't know if you can tell, but Chris likes it just a little bit...

Day Out with Thomas

We returned once again to Baldwin City, Kansas to spend the day with Thomas the Tank Engine and do all the fun activities he did two years ago. The big difference is that Chris was so much more interested in everything this time because he is that much older. We brought Grammy with us and met Luca and his family there for a fun day. Here are some of the things our little man did...

Where Chris fell asleep today...

It's a little hard to see but Christopher (who said he wouldn't sleep today) passed out on his bean bag chair in his room between the books and stuffed animals! Zzzzzzzzz....

Family time

The Wogloms are here for a visit this weekend and we've been having a wonderful time with them, eating lots of yummy food, jumping on the big red couch, and looking for live rats (inside joke that Grandpa Eric and Christopher will understand!). This morning, Grandma and Grandpa woke up at the crack of dawn so they could see our little man playing hockey. Chris proudly showed off his ever-improving skating abilities and scored a couple goals as well. We went to the Prairie Village Art Fair this morning, which turned out to be fantastic and Chris and Daddy found a bouncy house to play in while the rest of us perused the art scene. Grammy joined us for that too and we all went to Pizza 51 West for lunch. We then proceeded to order perhaps the biggest pizza we've ever seen. Daddy tried to eat it all but we stopped him before it was too late!
Getting back to hockey, Chris and I went to public session yesterday on our way up to the airport to pick up Grandma and Grandpa. He has really come a long way since his first skating days of marching in place! Here he is tearing up the rink...

You might have noticed that he is saying "You can't keep up with me!"
