Thanksgiving Back East

We returned Friday from a fantastic trip back east to see friends and family. The cousins especially had a fun time together, with Chris having three sleepovers with Poppy, Elsie and Bennett and Jonathan getting to spend a lot of time with them as well. No sleepovers for him yet but that time is coming! For now, the "run game" (a.k.a. running down the upstairs hallway at Grandma and Grandpa's with the big kids) will have to do. Chris got to go to an Army football game and the Radio City Christmas Show. I also took the boys skating at Rye Playland and we saw Bennett play hockey. I also had a blast taking Chris over to New Jersey to see where I grew up and the houses I lived in over the years.

This trip was a lot of fun for me as well because I got to spend a lot of time in Jersey seeing great friends and visiting my hometown, which I don't get to see as often now that Grammy is not living there. We had our 20th high school reunion so it was fun catching up with dear friends and friends I haven't seen in years. I also got to visit with my softball coach/history teacher/mentor, Karen Kosch (second picture down). I even got to take Chris back to my old high school!

We had a lovely brunch with Grammy complete with a chocolate fountain and now we are all in a food coma!

A Speech

A little background to this speech... So we have been listening to the music from "Hamilton" and talking a lot about the Revolution, the Constitution and the writing that Alexander Hamilton did in support of our Constitution. I am also reading Ron Chernow's Hamilton biography and sharing the information I learn with Chris. After the election on Tuesday, Chris decided to share his own reaction in writing, just as he thinks Hamilton would have done. He also delivered it as a speech from our "stage" also known as our fireplace. Everything is his own words except for the Methodist saying on page three about doing all the good you can. I am very proud of my son...

Ummm Hillary

I took this video prior to Tuesday. Not only is this boy cute, but he's got common sense too...

Early mornings

It is no secret that our children are early birds (some more than others). With the falling back that happened this weekend, we have all gotten earlier starts than usual. It's actually been pretty nice because we have more time before school for the moment. Because J has been getting up earlier, he and Chris can eat breakfast together. Chris was especially excited about this. And with the new table, Chris said he loved being able to sit next to J on the bench! It was also nice to see the boys just curled up the couch together reading before school...

New Table

We have a new table in our kitchen that can hold more food and more people! Jonathan is very excited that he can sit on a bench and not have Holly getting into his lap to capture any dropped food. It was fun to see Chris do his homework at the table yesterday as well.
