I'm still standing... yeah, yeah, yeah

It's so fun to watch Christopher as he learns all of these new skills! More than ever, he repeats them over and over and over until he gets the hang of everything. This week, he has really been getting brave and has been practicing standing up without holding on. At first, he would pull up on something and then let go for a second or two. I, of course, would get really excited and clap and make a big deal which would, in turn, startle him and make him plop back down on the ground. (Note to self: Just smile! It has the same effect.). As the week has gone on, Chris lets go for longer and longer periods. The picture on the left shows just how proficient he has become. He pulled up using my legs and then I backed away (several times) until I got his whole body in the frame. It must have been a good 20 seconds that he just stood there balancing. Very cool! Other skills he practices over and over again include opening the diaper genie (lovely) and rolling/throwing/bouncing the ball... As you will see from the next few pictures, this evening was not conducive to riding the bicycle so we all hung out inside.

Daddy got home early from work so we decided to have an earlier dinner than usual. We ate at the table with CJ and he feasted on strawberry flavored Puffs. In a similar episode to this time last year, we were eating dinner and the wind, rain and hail picked up to a somewhat frightening degree. (No tornado sirens this year though). Things were a bit too "breezy" for my liking, so we picked up the rest of our dinner, our kid, and our dog and finished eating in the guest room. "Little Buds" (as Brian has taken to calling his son) was getting quite tired so we gave him his pacifier and sat down on the couch to watch the weather reports (which are fun to watch here). I've never seen this kid so chill before as he sat between the two of us and watched the radar, waiting for Gary Lezak (the best weatherman in the country!) to tell us what to expect for the rest of the night. It would have made a lovely picture if Kasey could have figured out the camera. Oh well, maybe next time... Christopher wants to wish Aunt Dabney good luck this week as Dabney Lee Stationery/DL At Home displays its fabulous product line at the International Stationery Show in the city. See you all soon!
