I want to be a part of it...

... New York, New York... and New Jersey, New Jersey (of course). As soon as we descended into beautiful LaGuardia amidst the smog of the city, we knew we were home. (And then we really knew we were home when we sat in traffic at 11AM!). Christopher was a real trooper traveling back east on the 7AM flight from Kansas City. He adjusted quite well to sleeping in a new place as he made the pack and play his "home away from home." Our little man had a lovely time visiting with Grandma and Grandpa, Andy and Reina, Peter and Dabney, and the rest of the New York crew. Christopher was so excited to see Uncle Peter that he gave Daddy a "shower" while he was getting ready for bath time! Let's just say Daddy didn't feel to clean after said shower. We spent the first day in Harrison and went to a local park where Chris laughed his head off on the baby swing and took a ride in a police cruiser.

On day two, we drove over the Tappan Zee to beautiful northern New Jersey to see Grammy, who had some crazy fun toys for CJ to play with. We spent the first night there and then left our little man with Grammy and cousin cousin Liz for two nights. This was the first time the two of us had been away from Christopher overnight and we all did fine. Grammy, I am sure, had a wonderful time with her grandson as well. Friday and Saturday nights had us busy with wedding activity for Andy and Reina. Brian, as the best man, gave a fabulous toast and even got out and danced to some salsa music. Speaking of salsa--kudos to Andy for putting in a fabulous first dance with his new wife, Reina. They looked like pros out there! Even though we were out pretty late (for us) on Saturday, we got up early and headed back to NJ to pick up Christopher. I think he was a little surprised to see us, and it took him a moment to process that we actually came back for him! Monday morning brought us down to Jamie and Sean's house where Christopher met their puggle, Zeus. Chris was very amused by this playful puppy! Then it was back to Harrison, where we stayed until Tuesday morning when our flight left. By the end of the week, Christopher was finished with all the running around and sleeping in different houses. He did very well overall but was happy to be back in his own house. This morning, of course, he was still on eastern standard time and woke up expecting a bottle at 5AM. But his naps went well and hopefully tonight will too. It's good to be home, but we all had a wonderful trip back to see our family and friends. Only three weeks and counting until we return!

Oh, Christopher started doing this new thing while we were home where he sticks out his arms, makes two fists, and seems to say "arrrgghh" like a pirate. It's hilarious! I tried to capture it in this picture:

I remember each time we left our boys overnight for the first time. It's important to get away.

And our boys love pirates! We've had a pirate birthday party for the last 4 years!! ARGGGGHHHH!
