Ennis, Gaelic Football and the Craggaunowen Project

Today we drove down to Ennis, which is a town midway between Galway and Limerick. We finally met our first rain of the trip but we still wandered around just a little in Ennis before finding a lunch place.

After lunch in Ennis, we drove out on the country roads toward Knappogue Castle and the Craggaunowen Project. The former was a castle that we ended up just stopping at because it didn't really seem to be open. But we got some nice pictures!

We moved on to the Craggaunowen Project which was actually really cool! It was supposed to show the "living past" and had both original and recreated examples of life throughout the ages in the area. We saw a castle, a ring fort, an Iron Age road, a crannog and many other very cool examples of the past life in this area...

Also, today was the semi-final match of the All-Ireland Gaelic Football championships, with Galway facing Dublin, the defending champions. We all got in the spirit and the boys got some Galway gear! We watched the game at a pub across the street from our hotel, which was very fun. Unfortunately, Galway lost but they are still in the finals for the hurling championship!

It was another jam packed day and we are all ready to relax and rest. On to the Connemara tomorrow!
