Out and About

Hope everyone had a fabulous Memorial Day weekend! The first day of ours was chilly, not like that awesome beach weather you east coasters had. Anyway, we made the best of it and it warmed up by Sunday. That evening, we planned to go to the Kansas City Balloon Festival in Gardner to see the evening balloon launch. Unfortunately, the wind was too strong and they cancelled the launch by the time we got there. No worries though! There was a great park there with tons of kids and Chris had a good old time. We also walked on a trail next to the pond nearby and saw some really cool frogs. Here is one of them:
Christopher really liked the frogs and he was happy to stay up past his bedtime. When we got home, the sun was so bright in our living room! CJ said hi to his alter-ego, "Shadow Chris."
We had a nice relaxing day on Monday and later enjoyed dinner with the Eakin family. Holidays are not holidays here in Kansas without the Eakins! Chris and Tristan had a blast together as usual... Yesterday we spent the morning with Maddie and Randa at Deanna Rose. Here is the buds on his horse having a rockin' time:
And then this morning we went to see Funky Mama (for FREE, Grammy!) and met Tristan and his friend Sam there. The last time we saw Funky Mama, Chris was much younger and he sat in my lap with the look of a deer in headlights on his face the whole time. This time, he started with the deer in headlights look but danced at the same time. As the concert went on, he loosened up a bit and started to smile while he busted out his back-and-forth dance move. Here he is in action:
We've had a nice week back here in Kansas, although I have to say, after being in New York and New Jersey for a week, my patience with the slow pace of life out here vanished. It is coming back little by little, but man, why is everyone driving so slow???
