Now pitching

Due to the retirement of Andy Pettitte, we would like to announce the newest addition to the Yankees pitching rotation. Only a few more weeks til spring training! (By the way, when I put this shirt on him this morning, Chris said, "I want to play for the Yankees Mommy!")

Happy birthday... we love you!

Dearest Snuggles,

Happy 6th birthday to the best dog ever! We are so happy we went out to find you a little over 5 years ago... or should I say, you found us. You are the sweetest, friendliest, and most snuggly doggie ever and we are honored to call you our Kasey Moe. Enjoy your birthday! We may be saving special treats for another day, as it might be 2 months before we're able to walk you again. But maybe I'll just accidentally drop some peanut butter in your dish!

xoxo,
Your humans

Time to make the donuts

So we've been trekking over to the Dunkin' Donuts on 151st Street recently for Mommy to get some coffee. Buds has also been allowed one munchkin when we go. We went this morning after dropping Kasey off for a bath and nail trim. And, well, here is your related quote that came out of Christopher's mouth after his nap today...

"Mommy, I want to go to Dunkin' Donuts!"

That's my boy. That's my boy.

And now...

An open letter to the Shawnee Mission School District,

I understand closing school on Tuesday... there was a blizzard.

I understand closing school today... many roads were still impassable.

But Thursday also? Are you kidding me? Because it's cold outside? Here's a news flash: dress your kids in layers while they wait for the bus to pick them up. A little crisp, frigid air will do them good. The good people of the upper midwest (i.e.-Minnesota, Wisconsin) are laughing so hard at Kansas right now, as am I. Because SMSD is closed, so is Christopher's school, hence my utter frustration. The roads are fine. The plows actually arrived before noon today. No excuses.

We may be playing in snowdrifts all day tomorrow, but at least we'll be out of the house.

Sincerely,
The concerned parents of Johnson County
Christopher's profound statement of the morning...

"I want to see God, Mommy."

Whoa.

Blizzard update

While the snowfall has increased a bit as the day progresses, I'm still not seeing the blizzard conditions we saw the day after Christmas in New York. You east coasters may scoff at our Kansas blizzard if you'd like. I still wouldn't want to be out driving in it and I don't think Buds will be out building a snowman anytime soon. Regardless, Christopher is still in his pajamas. In fact, he went down for his nap, still wearing his PJs.  I think there'll be a whole lot of track building going on when he wakes up! Anyway, here's the view out our back window currently...

The blue car

Before the bulk of the snow hits us, Chris and I decided to take a trip out to Starbucks to get coffee, a treat, and a Times (because Mommy is taking the day off from reading about potty training!). Since Daddy had a much longer trip today, we swapped cars so he could have the 4WD. We hit the road right after breakfast and the roads were actually fine. Don't worry, the picture above was taken while we were in the drive-thru at Starbucks. I don't take pictures while I drive! Christopher was SO excited to be in Daddy's blue car. On our drive, he actually said, "I'm going to work like Daddy!" As a bonus, he got to ride in the car in his PJ's. It's amazing how fun a short drive to the coffee shop can be. We were fortunate enough to be stopped by a slow-moving train, saw a blue garbage truck, and listened to Radio Disney on Daddy's Sirius radio. Here is Chris and Mommy talking about the blue car...
And now we're going to cuddle up, watch some "Super Why" and play some trains!
