Rocky Mountain National Park

We spent the last week in Rocky Mountain National Park in Colorado. It was a fabulous trip and a beautiful location! The mountains were incredible, the forests serene, and the hiking was exhilarating. There is so much to write about and so many pictures to include that I am going to divide my posts over several days. I'll start off with a little bit about where we stayed...

Our cabin was in Estes Park which is a bustling little mountain town with lots and lots of tourists. The town itself was fine but we only went to eat there once or twice. The cabin was literally across the street from the park which was perfect for us! Here are some pics from our place...

The cabin was perfect for us but the view across the street was even better!
Our deck faced Long's Peak, the highest mountain in the park at over 14,000 feet above sea level. Above, Chris is dreaming of the day when he will climb it! The first day after arriving in Colorado had us settling in, getting to know our way around and making plans for the hiking and exploring we would do in the coming days! I will share our travels through the park over the next few days. For now, here is just a small sample of the wildflowers and trees we cam across...

We are still technically on our trip home, staying in that Oasis of the Plains, Colby, Kansas. We are looking forward to getting home tomorrow and sharing more from Rocky Mountain National Park with you!
