Swim Meet #5

The stoic boy in the white plastic chair and blue swim cap is our Christopher, envisioning his next race... He swam great tonight in their last meet of the season against Turner. Chris had five events scheduled. Unfortunately his team got disqualified from the medley relay because a kid left too early (way too early). Chris swam a nice backstroke for that relay. And about five minutes before the final 100 freestyle relay, one of Christopher's teammates got sick and was unable to swim. There were not enough swimmers on their level to find someone to fill in. But his other races went really well! He finished first in backstroke, first in butterfly (taking a full second off his best time) and second in breaststroke (taking 1.38 seconds off his best time). Here are a couple videos of fly and breaststroke...

Chris and Giles swam next to each other in breaststroke. Here they are getting ready...

These two have become really good friends, especially this summer and they helped each other out tonight too! Before the meet, Christopher's swim cap broke and Giles (who never wears his cap) gave his to Chris. In the middle of the meet, Giles' goggles broke and he didn't have a second pair so Chris loaned him his.

Next week is the last week of swimming with Novice Champs on Tuesday (Christopher's birthday) and Level II Champs on Thursday.
