Happy Easter!

Happy Easter everyone! Here are a couple videos for your viewing pleasure. The first one is Chris on his morning (very early morning) Easter egg hunt in the living room...

I caught him toward the end of the hunt but he was SO excited once he found the first few! Then the second video is of Chris using some Easter chalk that he got in his basket. He is very busy when he draws!

Return to the Ice

It's been since November that Christopher has ice skated so we returned today to refresh his skills. After a few shaky steps he remembered what to do and was off! He also took to stopping to intentionally fall down. Occasionally it was intentional, other times not so much. Here he is on his skates!

Funny

After we played in the snow a bit, we came in for a snack and Chris started saying "Boo Boston, Boo Boston," etc. I'm not quite sure what prompted that but here is what I said:

Me: Chris, Boston is actually a really cool city. There is a lot of history there and we'll take you to see it someday.

Chris: But Mommy, how can Boston be cool? The Red Sox play there?

Good man...

Bye bye winter

Okay winter, we get it. Thank you for reinforcing yourself but I think it is time for you to check the calendar. Spring started last week and it is time for you to go back into hibernation. In the meantime, my son will happily play in what remains of the snow so you're off the hook for now!

Here are a couple pics of Chris enjoying what is (hopefully) the last of the snow...
And here he is making his "roaring" face...

Cousins

Here are some of my favorite pictures of the kids from our trip...

This last picture cracked me up because of Elsie holding the water bottles over her ears. Ha! It also looks like Chris is singing so that could be why she's doing it!

New York, New York (again!)

We just returned from a week in New York where we got to visit family and friends and celebrate Grandpa Eric's birthday! It was a wonderful trip where Chris got to spend a lot of time with his cousins and we got to see all the people we didn't see during the holidays. Plus we got to meet Andy and Reina's sweet new baby girl Gabriela! Here are some of the pictures from Grandpa's birthday party where we ate pizza and Grandma Jan's famous chocolate birthday cake...

One of the days we were back east, we took the train into the city to go to the Central Park Zoo. I think there was a tie for Christopher's favorite thing that day--the subway or the penguins!

And since blogger will only let me upload a certain amount of pictures per post, I will put all the good kid pictures on the next entry...

The boy and his dog

Before we dropped Kasey off at Pawz at Play this morning, Chris was telling her how much he was going to miss her...

And then he gave her a kiss...

Pop music

Chris is my window to today's pop music. When he has his quiet time, he sometimes listens to the pop station and learns a lot of the songs. Here he is singing a little clip of his current favorite, Alicia Keys' "Girl on Fire."

And the mystery reader is...

Daddy! Christopher's school has a mystery reader program where family members sign up to come into the class and read to the kids. The children don't know who is coming in or when so it is usually a total surprise. Chris told me several times who had read and he said "I think you will come and read or maybe Grammy." He had no clue that it would be Brian coming into read and it took him a minute to register that Daddy was going to be reading. Once he realized it (and that Daddy brought Stuck, one of their favorite books to read together!) he was so excited and so proud (as you can tell from the look on his face)... Now, I always claim that I could never do Brian's job but he may have a future as a preschool teacher because he did a fantastic job reading! Here are some more pics from our morning...

After the reading, we all got to have lunch together before Daddy went back to work. It was a fun morning!

Marble making

This morning we got a little "marble crazy" here in Kansas! We went up to a marble factory and store called Moon Marble in Bonner Springs where they were having a festival of marble making and glass/marble artists displaying and selling their work. Olivia and Elliot joined us as well as Grammy and we had a great time. The picture above shows a man making a marble and heating and working the glass. He showed us how they get the different colors into the marbles and everything. Chris and Olivia were so excited to watch the process! Some of the artists selling their marbles had incredible pieces and we gained a new respect for marble making. It was a popular event and by the end of our stay, the line was well out the door. By the time we got home, Chris set up his own marble factory and store and was selling his work to Mommy and Daddy. He was only charging a dollar though so we're going to have to coach him a bit on his money making skills!
