Sky Zone

After school today Chris and I went over to Sky Zone so he could do some jumping and he had SO MUCH FUN! This boy loves to jump and I would much rather him jump on trampolines than our red couch (although that's okay too). Here he is jumping really high...

There is also a part where you can jump into a really big foam pit and Chris helped himself to that as well...

Spring?

Yesterday it was 71 degrees here in Kansas. 71 degrees. Keep in mind it is January. For our east coast friends who had snow and sleet yesterday, we are doing our best to send that gorgeous weather your way! Chris soaked up the warmth as best he could, visiting the arboretum with Grammy after school, playing at Franklin Park with Nico and Corinne (and like a thousand other kids) and jumping on the trampoline with our neighbor, Molly. You will also notice from the picture above that Atticus the penguin joined us at the park and this picture shows him when he was still clean. At the end of the afternoon, he was covered with mulch and baseball field dirt. Chris and Corinne are pictured above playing together and Chris was going up to a lot of kids at the park and joining in their fun. This is great to see!

The Champion

I have been informed that I have been awarded the gold medal in the "cute dog" category. I would like to thank my owners, especially Christopher, for their ongoing support, encouragement, and belly rubs. I would also like to thank the doggie academy for their consideration. Finally I would like to thank Dog, without whose help I could not have gotten this far in my life. Thank you and good night...

Poop!

Now that I have your attention...

Chris and I joined Grammy today at Ernie Miller Nature Center for "Scatology 101." Scat, of course, is the scientific name for animal poo. You can imagine that this was a big hit with Christopher! The naturalist who was presenting did a fabulous job discussing this topic and had some fun activities for the kids to take part in. For example, she gave out a "scat snack" that you had to guess what animal it resembled before eating it. Here is Chris with his fox scat, also known as a tootsie roll...
She also read some interesting stories that told all about the good stuff and how you can learn about the animals' habits, eating, etc...
They also had some live animals for the kids to meet and it was all very hands on. First we met the possum and then a bunny. The kids were not allowed to touch the possum but they were able to feel a possum fur at the end.

At the end of the class, the kids got to work on a little book where they could stamp an animal's tracks and then draw its scat next to it. Chris has been getting more and more interested in writing so for once it wasn't a struggle to get him to draw!
Maybe the topic helped a bit... Anyway, we met Daddy back at home and went out to dinner on the Plaza (it was like 60 degrees here today so we walked around a bit to take in the unseasonable weather!). Here is Chris with one of the Plaza Penguins...

Our Saturday

Christopher went to a make-up soccer class today, since we missed our regular Tuesday class, and it was picture day. He got to take a picture with the head rabbit in charge of Lil' Kickers whose name I still do not know. (Everything associated with Lil' Kickers has to do with rabbits. For example, Christopher's level is known as "Jackrabbits" and they have "Hoppers," etc...). Here he is with his bunny. He looks like he is trying to pull away from the bunny's arm but he was actually quite happy!
It was also gorgeous weather so we were able to get outside to a park this afternoon. Our friends, the Eakins, were supposed to come over for dinner but they ended up getting sick so we had a little extra time this afternoon for the park and Spin Pizza. Here is our little man on the swings...

Four Years of Kindermusik

Christopher is now officially in his fourth year of Kindermusik! And how much he has changed since that very first class four years ago this week... Today he started a new unit called "Cities." You can imagine that after his big trip to New York City at Christmas, he was very excited to share all he knows about the big city with his friends. When Ms. Megan told the class that they would be starting their new unit about cities Chris said, "Oh I know all about the big city!" He even chose to wear his F train shirt to class. Above, he is playing his resonator bar which is his new instrument for this semester. I am amazed at how much Chris still enjoys Kindermusik but it is probably because it is such a fabulous program and we have been so happy with it over the years!

Random day

Today was a very random day. Daddy had off, it was freezing cold, and we had nothing in particular planned. Soooooo... after a delicious lunch in the volcano section of the T-Rex restaurant, we went over to Nebraska Furniture Mart to seek out some furniture for Christopher's room. We were quite unlucky in this search (although we did find a fun picture for CJ's room about Grand Central Station!) but Chris did enjoy trying out a potential Super Bowl chair:
Later on in the afternoon, we went to a tropical fish store which had, among other things, a 1200 gallon salt water tank! It was so cool. But to Christopher, his favorite part of the store was this cute little puffer fish and he kept coming back to it. Here he is bonding with "his" fish...

Surfin' bird

Christopher donned my sunglasses while "surfing" in the living room and listening to "surf rock" on Pandora (think Beach Boys and Misirlou). C'mon people, it's about 14 degrees out! We have to think beach thoughts!

In other news, Chris has all of the sudden been into "doing homework" which is quite a miracle for a boy who does not usually like to draw and write. Before school today, he wrote "Chris Woglom" and wrote out some math problems and drew a self-portrait. Then he cut it in half, stuck it in an envelope, and "mailed" it to Daddy. After school, he wanted to draw a picture of Olivia and I have to say, this is quite a good picture! Of course, you can't see the 6 arms and 4 legs he gave her but the face is great and her name is fantastic. Go Chris!

Friday movie night

Friday night movie watching is not a passive experience in our house!

Baking moon rocks

When I signed up to bring in snack for Christopher's class tomorrow, I didn't realize that it would be the day they would celebrate his half birthday. I'm glad they do this for those poor summer birthday kids and you can bet that Chris is just as happy! He may be more excited for this than his actual birthday. Anyway, we have a kids cookbook that has a recipe for "moon rocks" in it (really just cookies!) so that is what we made today. Here is the chef with his makeshift apron...
The fun thing about a kids cookbook is that they instruct you to mix things with your hands! Here is Chris digging in...
Finally after baking and cooling, our moon rocks are ready for school! Some of Christopher's friends from other classes will be receiving some as well.

Lil' Kickers

Christopher started his first day of soccer today over at Lil' Kickers at All American Indoor Sports! We tried a class before the holiday that Chris' friend Aidan goes to and he loved it so we signed him up for the rest of this session. He really loves it and it's a small class where they teach some of the basics of soccer. One thing Chris will have to work on is not touching the ball with his hands (unless he wants to be a goal keeper!) but otherwise, he really enjoys kicking and trying to score a goal. And he's really fast too! The running drills are definitely his strong point.
