Remember how I said we had all these cool things planned for this weekend? The seder? An Easter egg hunt? Brunch with friends? Wouldn't you know our poor little man developed a yucky fever yesterday and while it has gone down a little today, Christopher still feels sick. He has a runny nose, fever and he just looks drained. Poor guy! Well, we've been making the best of it and continued with our Easter egg hunt (during which Chris asked me if I'm the Easter Bunny--looks like he figured that out early!). Here he is finding his hardboiled eggs...
Christopher also found a couple books and stickers in his basket before his search for eggs began. Once he realized that he had puffy stickers, he got busy putting them all over his shirt...
We're hoping buds feels better soon and we're hoping you all had a wonderful Easter!

Good morning!
Did everyone sleep as well as we did?
PS-No, the dog did not spend the night in the crib and this morning, it was Kasey who got us out of bed while Christopher slept until 7:45.

Hangin' with Kasey and Coloring Eggs
Now that Buds is such a big boy, what with his staying dry at school and wearing underwear instead of diapers, he also is acquiring many of the skills he will need in his future roll of "man." One of those skills is knowing how to really relax in one's underoos. (What? C'mon, you know it's true gentlemen!). Christopher is also now sleeping with a blanket in his crib rather than his sleep sack and he likes the blanket to go everywhere in the house. Here he is relaxing like a pro with Kasey...
Later, after his siesta, Christopher colored eggs with Mommy for Easter. As exciting as this activity should be for a young child, there were two, um, issues with it for little CJ. First of all, the eggs were not going to be consumed immediately. If any of you have seen this boy eat, you will see wherein lies the problem. Second, all previous Easter egg hunts have been for those little plastic eggs that people put candy inside of. So you try explaining to this two year-old why he won't be able to open up these eggs on Sunday and find chocolate goodies in them... and then keep trying to come up with an answer when he repeatedly (oooh I don't think I've every used bold on this blog before!) asks when we can "open the eggs up" to "get the candy in dem." Anyway, here is evidence of the egg coloring...
We have several festivities to prepare for this holiday weekend including a Passover seder tomorrow night with Lahna and Liam and their friends and family (and no, nobody there will be Jewish--we just decided we all wanted to do a seder). And what holiday in Kansas would be complete without the Eakins! We will be joining them as well as Matt and Jaime for Easter brunch with all the kiddos. Should be fun. Happy Easter/Passover everyone!

In case you've been on the edge of your seat all day (like Christopher's mother) and wondering how he did in his big boy pants, well.......... he stayed dry at school! I picked him up and he was wearing the same clothes I dropped him off in!!! He told his teachers when he had to go and that was that. Yay Christopher!
Rollin' with my homies
For the first time in his young life, Christopher got to ride in his car with a buddy sitting next to him! We drove his friend Liam to school this morning with us and our little man has never been more excited. Liam goes to the big kid preschool at the same school where Chris does his kids day out. Let's hope the rest of the day went as well as the morning!

Overheard
At lunch today, Christopher made the following proclamation:
"Mommy, I love mushrooms. I love mushrooms. I love mushrooms!"
"Mommy, I love mushrooms. I love mushrooms. I love mushrooms!"

The Big Boy Potty
Well, today we officially began "The Potty Re-education of CJ Woglom." While our little man has been practicing every now and then on the "big boy potty," today we began the intensive work. I have not provided pictures of our current work, mainly because Chris has been running around the house half-naked all day! But he's been doing well. In fact, the first time he had to go, I happened to have run downstairs for like 30 seconds to grab something and I heard the quick pitter patter of his footsteps racing toward the bathroom. I ran upstairs as he was getting himself on the seat (!!!) and started to go. We were all thoroughly excited, especially since it was his first try. Another time, he started to go on the floor, stopped himself, and ran for the bathroom again. And still another time he told Daddy he had to "go potty" and made it to the bathroom on time. Going outside to play is a whole other can of worms (yeah, he was soaked after 10 minutes of running around) but I would say that one accident so far on Day One is pretty darn good. We'll see what the next few days hold... because I know you all looovve hearing about Christopher's potty habits!
Oh and P.S., Chris looks stinkin' adorable in his Thomas underoos!

Hush little baby
One of Christopher's favorite songs to sing from Kindermusik is "Hush Little Baby." Our activity book had pictures that you can cut out to use as props to sing along. Here is the video of Chris singing the song. He adds at the end that he loves Miss Amy, his teacher! We also posted the video on InJoy Music's Facebook page because the teachers have a little competition to see how many students each teacher can get to post. Here it is...

Bubbles and climbing
So our moms group met at a park today to blow bubbles and play. Christopher was very happy to chase the bubbles all over the place and he was possibly the most excited kid there (big surprise!). More exciting than that perhaps was the old school climbing structure that he found and learned how to go up and down pretty well. It was a little big for him but he got the hang of it. Here he is on his way up...
We also enjoyed a nice picnic with our friends and sat out in the cool but sunny weather.
A funny thing about Christopher's negotiating skills... He was playing with water and toys in the sink today and I said, "Chris you can play for 5 more minutes." To this Christopher replied, "I don't want 5 more minutes. I want to play for three more minutes." Fine with me buddy! But you're going to have to learn quantity of time pretty soon if you want to benefit!

Keeping the boy busy
So Christopher had a very full day yesterday! After being at school, playing with his friends all day, we went downtown to hang out in "the big city" for a while. A former professor of mine was in town for an early childhood conference so we took her over to Union Station to check out the train exhibits they have there. The KC Rail Experience now has a free exhibit of model trains so we meandered through that for like 45 minutes. Buds was enamored with everything he saw! Here is just a small piece of what was there...
As we were checking out the model trains, I began thinking about how many such train exhibits we have seen in the past year and, well, it's just too many to count! Dare I say we are becoming experts? Anyway, it was very nice to see my professor and since she is a child development expert, it was fun to hear her talking with Christopher too! She also got him a little gift at the Union Station gift shop (a little train that he picked out--shocking!) and he hasn't stopped playing with it yet...
As if the train museum wasn't enough, we then visited Daddy at his office! When Christopher walked in he said, "Daddy I love your office!" and later he asked, "Daddy do you like this office?" He also briefly entertained Brian's coworkers and picked some stocks along the way. Here are my boys!
It was getting late when we got to the office so we all decided to just go ahead an have dinner on the Plaza at Eden Alley Cafe. By the time we got home, our little man was wiped out (although you'd never know it by the amount of energy he put into resisting teeth brushing, face washing, and pajama time). It was a long, fun day for everyone!

Snoozin'
Sometimes when I go in to wake Chris up from his nap, he just looks so snuggly! Today he had his arms wrapped around Piggy and just had to get video before I woke him up...

Line of the day
We were walking around the block after lunch and there is a line of trees that are budding these beautiful white flowers right now. Christopher looks at them and says:
"Hello trees... Welcome to summer!"

The boy and his dog
Christopher decided to brush Kasey this morning. Such a responsible dog owner!
And then when he was done, he gave Kasey a hug and said, "I love you so much Kasey." Awww!

The Sandbox
Yes folks, we have a sandbox! Christopher heard about how much fun his Daddy had playing in the sandboxes at Carl Shurtz Park and wanted to find out what all the fuss was about. So far, that's all he's wanted to play with today which is just fine because it's gorgeous out and Mommy and Daddy and Kasey can just enjoy the weather while he plays. He was so excited about the sandbox, in fact, that he decided that a nap was not necessary today!
