Christopher Woglom, M.D.

If you were wondering where we've been, our lack of posts this week is due to helping Christopher study for his boards as he has finished medical school in record time. The new doctor set straight to work, checking his parents' heartbeats and giving Kasey lots of shots. Here he is taking Daddy's temperature...
In between patients, Christopher gets his exercise by taking his parents sweatshirts and running around the house in them! Although he particularly enjoys Daddy's sweatshirts, here he is in Mommy's favorite purple hoodie...

Play time

Before we went to Kindermusik today, Olivia came over to play with Christopher for a little while. These two buddies had a great time together as usual! After watching an episode of Dora the Explorer together, Christopher tried to impress Olivia with his dance moves to the ABC song. I think the verdict is still out!
Next, we went to "Bubble Land" and filled the living room with bubbles. Chris and Olivia both tried to pop as many bubbles as possible and Kasey helped out too.
Then the dynamic duo tried on our big shoes and went stomping around the living room together! They had such a great time doing this and Olivia kept my shoes on until her mommy and daddy came to pick her up.
It was a wonderful morning and, as usual, it is so fun to see these two kiddos playing together. Kindermusik was also a blast and when we got home the weather was so unbelievably gorgeous that Chris and I took Kasey for a nice walk and played outside in our snow-less yard. It's a little cooler than yesterday (it was 73 yesterday) but not windy at all so we were out without jackets, blowing bubbles and getting "stuck in the muuuuddddd!"

Dear Weather Gods,
Thank you for this unbelievable February weather! I know you are teasing us, what with letting us go out coat-less and all, and that you are supposedly sending more snow our way soon. All I ask is that you let it stay for a short amount of time so we can resume our springlike activities. Kasey, Mommy, and CJ would greatly appreciate this!
Sincerely,
The Wogloms

Valentines Arts and Crafts

We went to a fun playgroup this morning where Chris got to make a few Valentines Day crafts! Here is what he made for his daddy...
Happy Valentines Day everyone!

The boy on his trail

Here are some pics from our post-nap outing on the trail this afternoon. It's been awhile since we've gone and it felt great to be there again!

Stuck in the muuuuudddd!

Ahhh... It's a balmy 57 degrees outside today and as you can see, Kasey is very, very happy. But she's not the only one. We all got our dose of vitamin D today as we played outside in what is now a rapidly diminishing cover of snow. We still have some of the white stuff and Chris was happy to play in it, but it didn't take long for him to find the gutter and drain pipe where water was dripping down into our flower beds. And not long after that, Buds found the mud! He began by finding small rocks and putting them in the small water puddle at the base of the drain pipe. Then he found a big rock and started digging in the mud. And finally, he ditched the rock, and he simply used his hands. Yes I'm doing laundry right now and yes we spent about 15 minutes washing his hands. Here he is after his mud play...
I suppose the mess could have been a lot worse but you can't really see his boots in this picture. I guess we're lucky he wasn't laying in the mud. Christopher is eating this up right now because one of his favorite things to do is pretend he is stuck in the mud. When we walk around the block, he'll stop at a tree and say, "I'm stuck in the muuuuudddd" with a strained voice. Then he'll reach for us and we have to pretend to pull him out. What an imagination on this kid! Anyway, here are some more mud action shots...

Lunch with the ladies

As I've said before, Kindermusik is the BEST, especially this semester as we have class with so many friends. Well today, we all got together after the music Valentine's party to have lunch at Panera. As usual, Chris was there with the girls--Lucy, Olivia and Emily. It was wonderful to visit with the other moms, even if we have to have our conversations over little 2 year-old voices and with the occasional interjections of "Please sit on your bottom!" or "Keep your food on your plate!" Here are some pics from lunch:

In case you didn't know, Mommy has been trying something new these days... ballet! Christopher likes when Mommy goes out to dance because then he and Daddy get some boy time together. And sometimes Chris gallops down the hallway and says, "I'm doing ballet!" Hmm. Anyway, here I am in my ballerina getup...

What's gonna work... teamwork!

Chris is becoming more and more like a toddler with his meals. No, he's not picky (c'mon, you know Christopher!). He just becomes distracted whilst eating. For example, he sings and sings and sings some more rather than consuming his food. Very frequently, he will include Kasey in his dinner time shenanigans. Here is just an example. The title of the blog will make sense when you watch the video. (It's from a show called "Wonderpets."

Puppy Bowl

After his nap, Christopher was ready to watch Puppy Bowl VII. As you will see, he especially likes dancing to the background music!

And as for the Super Bowl itself... go, ummmm, Packers?

Now pitching

Due to the retirement of Andy Pettitte, we would like to announce the newest addition to the Yankees pitching rotation. Only a few more weeks til spring training! (By the way, when I put this shirt on him this morning, Chris said, "I want to play for the Yankees Mommy!")

Happy birthday... we love you!

Dearest Snuggles,

Happy 6th birthday to the best dog ever! We are so happy we went out to find you a little over 5 years ago... or should I say, you found us. You are the sweetest, friendliest, and most snuggly doggie ever and we are honored to call you our Kasey Moe. Enjoy your birthday! We may be saving special treats for another day, as it might be 2 months before we're able to walk you again. But maybe I'll just accidentally drop some peanut butter in your dish!

xoxo,
Your humans

Time to make the donuts

So we've been trekking over to the Dunkin' Donuts on 151st Street recently for Mommy to get some coffee. Buds has also been allowed one munchkin when we go. We went this morning after dropping Kasey off for a bath and nail trim. And, well, here is your related quote that came out of Christopher's mouth after his nap today...

"Mommy, I want to go to Dunkin' Donuts!"

That's my boy. That's my boy.

And now...

An open letter to the Shawnee Mission School District,

I understand closing school on Tuesday... there was a blizzard.

I understand closing school today... many roads were still impassable.

But Thursday also? Are you kidding me? Because it's cold outside? Here's a news flash: dress your kids in layers while they wait for the bus to pick them up. A little crisp, frigid air will do them good. The good people of the upper midwest (i.e.-Minnesota, Wisconsin) are laughing so hard at Kansas right now, as am I. Because SMSD is closed, so is Christopher's school, hence my utter frustration. The roads are fine. The plows actually arrived before noon today. No excuses.

We may be playing in snowdrifts all day tomorrow, but at least we'll be out of the house.

Sincerely,
The concerned parents of Johnson County
Christopher's profound statement of the morning...

"I want to see God, Mommy."

Whoa.

Blizzard update

While the snowfall has increased a bit as the day progresses, I'm still not seeing the blizzard conditions we saw the day after Christmas in New York. You east coasters may scoff at our Kansas blizzard if you'd like. I still wouldn't want to be out driving in it and I don't think Buds will be out building a snowman anytime soon. Regardless, Christopher is still in his pajamas. In fact, he went down for his nap, still wearing his PJs.  I think there'll be a whole lot of track building going on when he wakes up! Anyway, here's the view out our back window currently...

The blue car

Before the bulk of the snow hits us, Chris and I decided to take a trip out to Starbucks to get coffee, a treat, and a Times (because Mommy is taking the day off from reading about potty training!). Since Daddy had a much longer trip today, we swapped cars so he could have the 4WD. We hit the road right after breakfast and the roads were actually fine. Don't worry, the picture above was taken while we were in the drive-thru at Starbucks. I don't take pictures while I drive! Christopher was SO excited to be in Daddy's blue car. On our drive, he actually said, "I'm going to work like Daddy!" As a bonus, he got to ride in the car in his PJ's. It's amazing how fun a short drive to the coffee shop can be. We were fortunate enough to be stopped by a slow-moving train, saw a blue garbage truck, and listened to Radio Disney on Daddy's Sirius radio. Here is Chris and Mommy talking about the blue car...
And now we're going to cuddle up, watch some "Super Why" and play some trains!
