More Pics From Today

Here are a couple pictures that went along with Christopher's presentation today...

After watching Christopher's presentation, Jonathan and I joined Leatha and Tiffany (and all the kids) for an Easter Egg hunt!
Showing Noah where there was an egg. That's teamwork!

Native American Presentation

This morning, Christopher and his class presented the culmination of their Native American study. The students have been working hard on this for well over a month and Chris was so fired up about it! We heard something every day about what he was learning and were also corrected when we said something that was not entirely accurate. Each student chose a role to play and the presentation was done accordingly. Chris and his friend Claire chose "dancers" (I know, big shock right?) and they opened up the presentation with lots of information about different traditional dances. I took several videos...

One of Christopher's favorite dances was the Eagle Dance. Here he is explaining it and then performing it with some of the other boys in his class. Mrs. Burns told me that Chris actually choreographed this himself and directed the other kids in how to do it!

School Piano Recital

Last night, Christopher participated in the 3rd through 5th grade piano recital in Curry Theater. He played "Fiesta Espana" a song he's been working on with Mackenzie for awhile. Out of the kids that were there, Chris was the only third grader. It was cool to listen to some of the older kids! There was an electric guitar and some violins in addition to the piano performances. Here is Christopher's song...

"It was a Tigertastic trip!"

The quote that is the title of this entry came from Jonathan last night as we drove home from the airport after spending a week in Clearwater Beach, Florida. It was his way of saying that he had a blast, as did we! When you live in landlocked Kansas (and come from coastal states), spending time near the water is great for your soul! We had a terrific time, did lots of fun things, also a lot of nothing but sitting on the beach or the pool, and kept no schedule. Here are some pictures from our hotel and the beach right in front of it...

Christopher even found this amazing shell in the gulf on day one...
The sunsets were beautiful too!

Our second day in Florida, we drove out to Legoland which was so much fun, especially for the boys! We went on different rides, Chris went on his first "real" rollercoaster and we saw a really cool "Pirate Show" with very talented water skiers...

Saying "arrrrgghh" to the pirates...

Of course, on Saturday, we had to celebrate St. Patrick's Day at the O'Keefe's Irish Fest in downtown Clearwater...
Chris showed off some of his dance moves in front of all these people to a little "Whiskey in the Jar."

Christopher and I went parasailing on Sunday, something I've wanted to do for a long time. It was really fun! We had a beautiful day for it and even had dolphins following our boat's wake on the way back in...

Of course, we had a lot of fun meals, a ridiculous amount of pizza, and several trips to the ice cream shops of Clearwater...

The boys' favorite dining experience by far was Lenny's. You can see why...

They even had fried matzo on the menu!

On our second to last day there, the Kearns family drove all the way out from Orlando (where they were staying for the week) to spend the day with us. We all went to the Clearwater Marine Aquarium, known mostly for the "Dolphin Tale" movies and the rescued dolphins that are the stars. Zaira (one of J's favorite people in the world) once did a "trainer for the day" program there so she was more than happy to come visit again. The weather, which was initially supposed to be really bad that day, passed Clearwater over so we all went to the pool, beach, lunch and dinner before all the worn out kids made their way to bed and back to Orlando. It was a very fun day!

We had one last full day before we had to leave and the weather, while beautiful and sunny, was cool and very windy. We decided to part for Tampa and found a children's museum that the boys had fun in until it was time to leave for our flight. The Glazer Children's museum...

Thank you Florida for an amazing week!

Parade #2

So the Martin City parade was a bit chillier than the Brookside one. But the kids took it in stride and performed great! Here is a little video of the parade warm up before my phone died...

Brookside St. Patrick's Day Parade

We had a beautiful day to march in the St. Patrick's Day Parade! It was cool but fairly sunny and Chris got to dance with his dance school while we followed up behind them. The last time we marched in this parade was when we first lived in KC and marched with a dog group with Kasey. This is a very fun parade with a great turnout all throughout Brookside. Here are some pictures from the day...

Tomorrow we'll be doing the same routine for the Martin City Parade!

The Boys

Well, we are gearing up for a somewhat busy and early St. Patrick's Day weekend! While we will be out of town on the actual day, this weekend Christopher will be in two local warm-up parades with his dance school and we have had to gather "costume" parts over the past few weeks. The costume will also be worn when Chris competes in his first feis (pronounced "fesh") in April. Here he is in one of the costume options...

We also finally found a velvet vest (do you know how hard it is to find a velvet vest in March???) that he will probably wear for the parades this weekend over a white shirt. But he definitely looks sharp in the above get-up! We will also be joining him in the parade but will be back in the parent and sibling section. Look for a picture of our decorated wagon later next week!

Both boys went to the dentist on Monday and for Jonathan, it was his first visit. He was a total ham the whole time and seemed to enjoy his time in the chair! He had no problem with them cleaning his teeth and checking everything out. Here he is with his cool shades...
