J

Here is my Irish boy with his English vacuum... Also J helped me make pumpkin muffins this morning. He loves wearing Grandpa Clyde's apron!
Later this morning, the real Henry made a guest appearance at our house. This is why I am updating the blog in the morning. When the real Henry is here, Jonathan just sits and looks at it pretty much the whole time. It is like a celebrity sighting for him!

PHS Skate Party

Last Friday was the annual Pembroke Hill rollerskating party at Skate City! Chris had a great time skating with his friends and at the end, they do a "skate-less" song that the kids dance to. Here is Chris with his friends Carson, Will, and John Miles...

This was followed by another song (can't remember what it was!) where they all just ran around like crazy kids!

Playroom Fun!

We finally put Jonathan's trampoline together and he has been a jumping machine! The funny thing is he always wants us to watch him jump. The boy is very happy to be a jumping bean!

In Christopher's class, they have started a project studying Native American cultures. He is very excited about it and came home the other day and built his own tipi! He built it himself and I wrapped it for him with sheets. Then he set up his own little "camp" inside complete with a campfire, bow and arrow, and other supplies.

Skytop

We spent this past weekend celebrating lots of birthdays up in the Poconos at Skytop Lodge! We celebrated Grandpa Eric, Aunt Dabney and Poppy, Elsie and Bennett's birthdays. It was a fun weekend with lots of winter activities and a lot of swimming (indoors of course) too!

The cousins had a great time together as usual! Here they are at the fancy restaurant...
 J swimming with the girls...
 The infamous game room...
The boys getting ready to ski...

 Their first ski lesson...

 Skating at the semi-outdoor rink...
Jonathan's first time on the ice!
Jonathan, of course, found lots of vacuums and was very happy...
And he was exhausted and fell asleep at dinner...
And look who we found on TV while we were waiting for the breakfast place to open!
J was happy to listen to some U2 at the airport when our initial flight got delayed...
And I meant to post this picture before but this was awhile back. Jonathan got some Daniel Tiger trolley pajamas (which he wore for all of 5 minutes!).

Overheard

A conversation between Jonathan and I this morning...

J: Mommy, why is Christmas and Thanksgiving over? I want them.

K: Well Jonathan, we have more holidays coming up. Valentine's Day is soon and so is Martin Luther King Day. Martin Luther King was a cool guy. He did lots of great things.

J: Did he have a vacuum?

K: I'm sure he did, buddy, I'm sure he did.

Animal Presentation

Christopher and his class have been working very hard for a couple months on their "Animals of Missouri" projects. Each child studied an animal that can be found in Missouri (as well as other parts of the country). They researched it, wrote a report, constructed their animal, and also worked in groups based on their animal's habitat. Chris studied the coyote and was part of the prairie group. Here is his group presentation followed by his own part...
