Moving Right Along

Due to the unseasonably warm weather today (it seems like winter is having an inner crisis and can't seem to decide whether it really wants to be winter or not), they were able to start working on the base for our steps. Very exciting! J had a lot to watch out the window once again!

Chinese New Year Celebration

We went to the Nelson Atkins Museum of Art today to help celebrate Chinese New Year! We saw some beautiful dancing and artwork and the boys got rooster tattoos (temporary!) and got to design their own noise makers. It was a fun morning!

And last night, Daddy and I got to check out the Missouri Mavericks, our local minor league hockey team. It was fun to watch live hockey again!

A Thursday Morning

After a frigid walk with the dogs, Jonathan and I are chilling at the house before we head over to an open gym and then lunch with Daddy. Jonathan loves sitting at the piano and jamming to the demo beats! And as we speak, the skid steer is bringing supplies back for the patio, which they will continue on once the weather gets just a little bit warmer. Very exciting!

Basketball

Chris has been playing basketball once again this year and has been enjoying it! They had their first loss this past weekend but it was a close one! 28 to 25. Chris got to take two foul shots also! In this game, he had to guard the tall kid to the left of the picture.

Concrete Poured

On Friday afternoon, they poured the concrete for our new patio and it is all set up and ready for the warmer weather when they can put the stone work on top. I don't know about you, but I think it would make a great back yard skating rink if we left it as is (and filled in the circle in the middle)!

Historic Day

It is an historic day in our nation, specifically in Mission Hills. It's concrete-pouring day! The deck is gone, the gravel is laid, the bars are set and now we await the incoming concrete truck to take executive action and strengthen the infrastructure of our back yard. For too long, our backyard has been run by establishment bunnies who have reaped the rewards of a lush and green sprawl of grass. They have destroyed our perennials, they have ravaged our hostas. That all changes right here, right now. My fellow Wogloms, our backyard will no longer be host to bunnies who take take take. With the pouring of this foundation, we will reclaim our yard, for ourselves, for our children, and most importantly, for our dogs. Thank you and God bless concrete.

Second Grade Concert

The second graders had their annual concert this morning and it was wonderful! It's really fun to watch these kids grow together. The songs were fun to listen to and this year the kids just sounded so much more confident in their performance! Here is Chris with his friend JP after the show...
Chris had a dancing part in the Three Little Fishes song...

After being out for the morning, we came home to more progress. The space is cleared and being flattened out for the concrete tomorrow. Jonathan is watching the digger go back and forth and saying "Cool look at the digger" over and over again!

Demolition

The first picture below is what our deck looked like yesterday. We are in the process of changing our deck into a patio and the guys got started with demolition today!
As you can imagine, the entertainment for Jonathan was endless and he spent most of the morning looking out the windows at the workers. There were TWO diggers in the backyard as well as chainsaws galore. This made J very happy!
By the afternoon, the deck was gone. Bye bye deck! You helped sell us this house but now it is time to move on! Concrete gets poured on Friday. We'll keep you updated!

Game Time

Well the ice cleared up enough yesterday that we were able to get out and bring Chris to Grammy's for the night (their original plan which we cancelled in the morning and then rescheduled after things cleared up). Now we are in round two of the ice storm and will be home bound until the early afternoon. I talked with Grammy this morning and she and Chris are already at her pool and are looking forward to a fun and then relaxing day at her place. At our end, we have been taking out every board game (or Jonathan has!) and checking them all out. Currently, J is thinking about all the real estate he can buy with Monopoly money. We are also finding out how funny J can be, especially when the spotlight is solely on him! (Not that we didn't know already). We will venture out later when the temperatures creep up and everything turns to water rather than ice!

Homebound

Well, we have quite a bit of ice on the ground this morning so we are not going anywhere on the roads. We spent the morning constructing this fort, complete with a dining table inside.

Chris even takes his important phone calls in the house!

The Grooming Project

The girls are all fancy with their polk-a-dot bandanas this morning after getting bathed at The Grooming Project! Friends of ours from Christopher's school are involved with this program that provides training for single moms living in poverty to become professional dog groomers, which is a profession that pays very well. We are happy to bring our girls to help the women in the program get practice in their new jobs!

Here Comes the General

Chris is reading a biography of George Washington and was intent on having a wig, just like the General. He made his out of tissue paper!

The Things This Dog Has to Put Up With

This morning, Jonathan decided to "feed" Kasey some of his canned food that he got for Christmas!

The Study of Law

For some reason, Chris came home today with a million questions about being a lawyer. I answered what I could, and he set up his "practice" in the living room. He also left this letter for "Brain Woglom" when Brain gets home from work!

Brrrr!

We braved the cold this afternoon so the kids could play in the snow for a little bit! We went down the street to play with Noah and the Hall kids. It was an accomplishment to get Jonathan to wear his boots and mittens but we did it. He was happy for most of his time outside until he started to freeze toward the end. Chris, as usual, could stay and play in 16 degrees all day long!

Just Like Cree

Jonathan wants to do everything like his big brother. Chris has been really into Harry Potter and likes to read it before and after school. So Jonathan asked for his own "Hawwy Pottah" book! Here he is perusing it this morning.

Shave and a Haircut

Mommy finally got me a haircut! I feel free! (I didn't really get a shave too, that's just the name of my favorite piano song that  Cree plays). xoxo JJ
