Boo at the Zoo

We spent the day at the zoo today for Boo at the Zoo where kids could wear their Halloween costumes and trick or treat while checking out the animals. Christopher, of course, has been to the zoo and still loves all the animals (especially the penguins) but for Jonathan, it was his first time there. He loved the penguins too! 

And this was probably the best picture I could get of little man in his doggie costume with the hat part on...

Go Giles Go

Today we participated in the FARE walk that raises awareness about food allergies. This year was a little chillier than last year and I was a lot less pregnant than last year! This time Jonathan got to experience the walk from the outside. It was a fun morning with friends and Chris was very excited that this year's headband was green...

Chris got to hang out with some superheroes...

And he got to use a hammer and nails to build a fire truck!

It was a great morning followed by a barbecue at the Kearns' house and later followed by a trip to Spookfest at Science City (by then, Mommy was too tired to take pictures!)... And then here is J just being cute...

Grandpa T's Visit

Grandpa T just left Kansas this morning and we all had a great time with him. Chris especially had fun going fishing, playing in the backyard, talking baseball (and watching a lot of it too!) and just spending time with his Grandpa. We hope to see him again soon!

Artwork

I forgot to add this picture the other day! After the piano recital at school, we found this little bit of Christopher's artwork in the lobby of Curry Theater. What Chris is saying about himself is very true. His teacher told us that his favorite thing to do in school is Writer's Workshop. :)

Piano Recital

Christopher had his very first recital this afternoon at school! Mrs. Benjamin, the music teacher, hosted a K-2 recital for students who take private music lessons. Chris decided to play "The Juggler," a song he has played with his teacher, Mackenzie. I was most impressed by the confidence he seemed to have when he was playing. It was so fun to watch and listen to our boy!

Johnson Farms Pumpkin Patch

 We took the boys today to the Johnson Farms Pumpkin Patch in Belton, Missouri. It was Jonathan's first trip to get a pumpkin and Christopher tutored him in pumpkin patch etiquette. Well, kind of! Anyway, it was an absolutely gorgeous day and we had a lot of fun. After taking a hayride out to pick pumpkins, Chris helped Jonathan make his selection. Here he is examining his choice...

 There were tons of fun things for big kids to do too! Here is Chris jumping on the big inflatable pillow and also being king of the mountain...

 The farm had a number of animals, including lots of pigs. Jonathan loved the pigs so much! He just looked at them and kept laughing. There was also a litter of piglets that had been born the day before and we got to see them up close. They were so cute! And there was also a litter that was several weeks old and they were running around like puppies do. Both of our boys really enjoyed seeing all of them.

 After all the activities, we got apple cider slushies (Chris), hot apple cider (Mommy) and homemade pumpkin spice donuts, which Jonathan really enjoyed too. It was a great afternoon!

Another party

We had yet another celebration for Jonathan's first birthday, this time with our neighborhood friends. The kids all enjoyed cupcakes and then spent the rest of the afternoon playing outside. Jonathan had a fun day!

A very important anniversary

It was ten years ago today that we met our sweet Kasey Moe for the first time! We adopted her and brought her home 3 days later. ❤️

JJ's Party Time

Today we celebrated Jonathan's first birthday with family and friends! It was a very fun party and J got to have his first experience with cake. He wasn't quite as messy as Christopher was (and didn't eat nearly as much) but he was a good sport, eating the icing and a little of the cake and preferring the audience who was watching him to the actual eating... There is also a video that I will try to get uploaded in the next few days of the cake eating. It's good stuff!
